About Bricks4DC

Hi, my name is Luke and I'm a high school student in Washington, DC. Back in 2022 during the pandemic, I wanted to find a way to give back to my community. I sought an activity that involved my love for LEGO® building, a passion I've had since childhood and a fun hobby I wanted to share with other kids. I came across the Brooks Short Term Housing Shelter, and after many calls back and forth with the director, I finally set up the first class, bringing a few LEGO® sets to the shelter.
Our Mission
At Bricks4DC, we aim to support underprivileged kids in communities around DC. We do this by bringing and playing with LEGO® bricks, as a way for the kids to unwind and have some fun during a difficult time.
Our Story
My name is Luke and I'm a high school student in Washington, DC.

I joined a Zoom meeting with some of the kids living there and taught them how to build these sets, brick by brick. Since then, I have been teaching monthly classes in person for kids as well as their parents who often want to play with the LEGO® bricks too.
I have received $5,000 in grants to fund this project and have since expanded to more DC shelters. In December of 2025, I completed my Eagle Scout Project to create permanent LEGO® play and storage tables in the shelters for kids to play on their own time as well. As part of the project, I collected over 700 pounds of Legos which I then sorted and sanitized, with the help of my Scout Troop. We delivered the Legos and storage tables to all of the family shelters in Washington, DC.
My goal is to continue teaching these classes and expand them to all shelters across DC, reaching more kids and sharing with them the fun of LEGO® building.
